Terms of Service

Last updated: October 18, 2026

Effective Date: October 18, 2026.

Welcome to Owlbert, a learning app for kids run by Bare Metal Labs ("we", "us"). By creating an account you agree to these terms.

Acceptance of Terms

You must be an adult who can legally agree to these terms, and the parent or legal guardian of any child you add. If you do not agree, please do not use Owlbert.

Description of Service

Owlbert gives children daily practice in subjects like math, reading and science, and gives parents a portal to see progress, set limits, scan homework and manage rewards. Some features use AI to mark answers and write hints. Access is currently being opened to families gradually, so we may place your account on a waiting list.

Parent Responsibility

  • You are responsible for your account, your password and your parent PIN. Keep the PIN private from your children.
  • You must confirm your email address to use the parent area. We recommend turning on two-step login (Account, then Security) and saving your recovery codes. If you lose your password, recovery phrase and signed-in devices, locked scans cannot be recovered by anyone.
  • You are responsible for how your children use Owlbert and for what you upload, including homework scans.
  • Only upload content you have the right to use. Do not upload anything that shows other people's private information.
  • If you use your own Anthropic API key, you are responsible for the usage costs on that key.

Acceptable Use

  • Do not misuse the service, attempt to break or probe it, or access another family's data. To report a security problem, see our Security page.
  • Do not use automated tools to scrape or overload it.
  • Do not use it to upload unlawful, harmful or inappropriate content.
  • Do not resell or redistribute the content or service.

AI and Learning Content

AI-generated feedback and hints can be wrong. Owlbert is a practice tool, not a replacement for a teacher or for your own judgment, and it does not guarantee any academic result.

Beta Service, No Warranty

Owlbert is in beta. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. It may change, have bugs, or be unavailable at times.

Intellectual Property

Owlbert, its lessons, design and software belong to Bare Metal Labs. You keep ownership of what you upload and give us permission to process it only to run the service for you.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bare Metal Labs is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for lost data or profits, arising from your use of Owlbert. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the past twelve months, which for the free beta is zero.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time in the parent portal (Account, then Delete account). We may suspend or end access if these terms are broken, if the service is misused, or if we wind down the beta.

Changes to Terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date above and let you know by email or in the app. Continuing to use Owlbert after a change means you accept it.
